DTM Trophy title fight comes to a head for CVPG

Assen brings William Tregurtha another winner's podium

In Assen, Netherlands, the CV Performance Group was also one of the top teams in the DTM Trophy and landed back on the winner's podium with William Tregurtha. The title fight develops into a duel.

With the start of the DTM Trophy in Assen, the Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team was awaiting its third foreign guest appearance of the season. British driver William Tregurtha was still one of the title favorites and lived up to that again despite a difficult starting position.

"The BOP was not ideal for our Mercedes-AMG GT4 this weekend. But we gave our best as a team and were rewarded for it," said Tregurtha after the race. With a best time in the last free practice, he had a good starting position and delivered a great exchange of blows in the races.

In the end, he continued to collect important championship points in fifth and third place and remains within striking distance of the title with his GT4 in the Hampel Multihandel design.

Teammate Matias Salonen from Finland had an instructional weekend. After his top ranks in Austria, he had a hard time getting into his rhythm this time. "The track limits made life difficult for me. I did not manage to hit a perfect lap. On Sunday it went a little better and I had good overtaking maneuvers," the rookie summed up.

In just two weeks, the CV Performance Group will continue. Then the second to last week of racing will take place at the Hockenheimring. Head of the team Christian Voß is looking forward to the weekend: "We are still within striking distance with William and would like to take our chance. Our package is very competitive as we have proven with our victories and podium finishes. Now it is time to go full throttle into the finish."
